Industry Vs Application Analysis

RFID in Library Management
  Hardware Requirements:

- RFID Readers
- RFID Labels (40 mm by 40 mm)
- Mobile Readers
- EAS Antennae

Application
- Issue & Receipt of Books
- Stock Verification / Book Retrieval
- EAS

The Proposed System
Every member will be given an RFID Identification card.
Every Book will be tagged with an RFID Label which i s hard bound in them.
The member takes the book to the Issue/Receipts Counter and he gets his ID card read by the RFID Reader. He also gets his Books read by keeping the Books on the Reader.
The Stock Verification is done by having a Mobile RFID Reader or a CFA Reader attached to the PDA. These units are taken are taken to the book shelf and the library attender just shows the reader to the books. The RFID label in the book transfers its data to the Mobile reader. The Data in the mobile is then downloaded into the system. An Online stock Verification is also possible using Mobile Reader 0318.
Electronic Article Surveillance is done by having RFID Antennae placed at the Entry and Exit points. Once the issue is done then the RFID label is deactivated and when the book is returned the label is activated.
Incase anyone tries to take the book out of the library without doing the issue, the alarm is triggered.

RFID in Jewellery Store

Hardware Requirements:

- RFID Readers ( STA 8031 / 8032)
- RFID Labels
- Mobile Readers (SL 801 and 0318)

Application

- Billing
- Stock Verification /Stock Retrieval
RFID FREQUENCIES
• HF – 13.56 MHz
– ISO 14443, 18000-3
– ISO 15963

Billing

• Every Staff in the Store is given an ID card which is RFID based and has a Unique Identification Number.
• Every jewellery has a tag which has an Identification Number.
• When a Customer Purchases the jewellery, the Sales Person takes the jewellery to the sales counter and gets the jewellery read by taking it to the reader and the Invoice is Generated.
• To get The Sales persons daily sales his ID card is also read.

Stock Verification

The Stock Verification is done using mobile reader, just walking round the shelf’s of the Jewellery. When the tags get in reach with the frequency of the antenna, the data is transmitted to the Hardware. The stock verification can be done within a couple of hours. Stock taking is done much faster.

RFID in Warehouse

Application

- Real time monitoring and ttacking of work-in-progress
- Inventory management
- There are three warehouses and two gates as locations of access control and monitoring.

Requirements for Active RFID Implementation

- Active RFID tags (Battery lifetime 5- years and can change battery)
- 2.45 Ghz long range reader with external antenna
- Handheld reader reading distance up to 10 meter.
- Software

Requirements for Active UHF Implementation

- UHF RFID tags Pallet tag (ABS card with mounting hole) UHF/91.5MHz/ISO18000-6B 86x54x3.5K
- UHF long range reader with external antenna (can adjust distance: reading distance 0 meters to 5 meters)
- Handheld reader reading distance up to 1.5 meter

Active vs Passive Tag Solutions

Longer Read Range – RFID passive tags have read ranges limited to a few feet. Active RFID tags have a read range of up to 85 meters (-279 feet)
Larger Data Storage Capacity – Passive tags have limited data storage capacity compared to the RFID active tags.
Data Can Be Sent at Designated Times – Passive tags send data only when they are in close proximity to the RFID reader. Because of the large read range. Active RFID tags can send data at pre-designated intervals or at certain locations.

WAREHOUSE MANAGEMENT APPLICATION
This System aims at each links of logistic and helps enterprise managers embracive control and manage Inventory Goods warehousing, delivering from warehouse, moving, making an inventory of goods, blending in logistic distribution. It can improve the warehouse capability and use storage space efficiently ,especially in blending material that it achieves first-in first-out . This system ultimately boosts warehousing storage utilization and efficiency & quality of enterprise material management, so as to reduce cost of enterprise’s storage and enhance the enterprise marketing competitive power.

TIME & ATTENDANCE SOLUTION
Each entrance will have a FP200E/ FP300E Time & attendance and access control device at the reception/control office. These Devices can be connected to an optional door locking mechanism (magnetic lock) which will provide access control if required.
Each FP200/FP300 device will be connected via a RS232 or TCP/IP connection to the central monitoring Software installed on the Central Server. The standard software SDK being supplied with the Proximity/Bio-metric Devices will provide only the attendance log data monitoring but will not process the data and present the reports. Hence a Time & Attendance software application will be required to be installed on the central Server. This software will process the attendance log data and present reports centrally on the Server.
